This is a Japanese origami construction.  Start with a strip of paper 29 inches long and 1 inch wide.  (The sketches show one side white and the other side colored.)  The length and width of the original strip can be increased to make a bigger star.)

Many of these tiny stars are constructed with love and put in a jar, as a good luck gift.
